  1. creating own file/folder structure oop, ,
  2. using existing yii framework (or other php framework)

a framework cut down amount of development, particularly json request handling (which build yii) , project off ground more , have less code maintain.

however, you, there is, of course, yii learning curve ... reckon worth in long run...
